The Texas House is scheduled on Aug. 20 to vote on a newly drawn congressional map that would give Republicans five extra seats. The Texas Senate passed the map on Aug. 13. Were the state House to pass the map, it would go to Gov. Greg Abbott for his signature. Texas House Democrats returned to the state after a two-week standoff as they denied a quorum during the first session, which was called to pass the redistricted map and to respond to flooding in central Texas.
