Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said on Sept. 29 that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had requested that the Pentagon deploy 100 troops to the state amid federal immigration enforcement operations in Chicago. Speaking at a press conference, Pritzker said the Illinois National Guard had been informed that the DHS sent a memo to the Department of War requesting the deployment of “military personnel” to Illinois. “As I’ve said countless times before, this is not about crime or public safety. This is about sowing fear, intimidation, and division among Americans,” the governor said. “With one voice, we are telling this unwarranted and unconstitutional occupation to get out of Chicago.”...
