Illegal Alien Sought in Tennessee Hit-and-Run That Left 21-Year-Old With ‘Severe Injuries’

An illegal alien is the lead suspect in a hit-and-run accident in Tennessee, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Tony Gebian Lopez Infante, an illegal alien from Venezuela, is wanted for allegedly striking a 21-year-old American, Zach Carach, in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 18 before fleeing the scene driving a silver Mitsubishi Mirage.

“Carach sustained severe injuries,” according to a DHS press release Thursday.

Video footage shows the Nashville, Tenn., hit-and-run accident that injured Zack Carach.

Carach was in Tennessee from Florida to celebrate his birthday.

Lopez Infante remains at large, and “Homeland Security Investigations agents are working with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to locate the suspect,” according to DHS.

“This crime was preventable and is the direct result of open-border policies that prioritized illegal aliens over the safety of American citizens,” Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary, said in a statement.

According to DHS, Lopez Infante entered the U.S. on Aug. 1, 2023, and was released into the interior of the U.S. two weeks later. On Sept. 27, 2024, an immigration judge issued Lopez Infante, 32, a final order of removal.

Carach is now back in his home state and recovering in a hospital in Northwest Florida, according to ABC affiliate WEAR-TV News in Pensacola, Fla.

Sheena Carach, the victim’s mother, told the local outlet that doctors and police who have seen video footage of the hit-and-run don’t know how her son survived the accident without being paralyzed or suffering a traumatic brain injury.

“I’ve actually known about the suspect since May 20, which is difficult for our family to able to see his face and knowing he’s out there walking around,” the mother told WEAR News.

“I’m happy that information is being released to the public so that everybody can have eyes open,” Sheena Carach said. “[The Nashville Police Department] only has so many officers there, but if we have the whole world looking for him, somebody knows where he’s at.”

Zach Carach is reported to have undergone major surgery on one leg.

The DHS report on the suspect in the Nashville hit-and-run comes a little more than a week after authorities arrested two other illegal aliens in a hit-and-run accident on a lake in North Texas.

Ava Moore, an Air Force cadet candidate, lost her life while kayaking on Lake Grapevine in Texas on Memorial Day weekend. Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, an illegal alien from Venezuela, is charged with striking the 18-year-old with a Jet Ski, killing her.

Gonzalez is reported to have then struck a vehicle while fleeing the scene in another vehicle with a male acquaintance, according to Dallas’ ABC affiliate, WFAA-TV.
